The Lost Words
Julie from Wimborne Library came to visit us to present a book called The Lost Words
On 29th January, Julie from Wimborne Library visited us all to present us with a very special book called The Lost Words by Eva John, Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris. She explained how all of the words, which are beautifully illustrated and described, have been chosen because they have been removed from Oxford Junior Dictionary: words such as bluebell, dandelion and adder! We are very grateful for the generosity of over 100 supporters of a recent Crowdfunder appeal from Dorset, the UK and beyond as they pledged to provide books like these for lots of schools to enjoy. It will help us to celebrate the wonder of the everyday nature with which we share our everyday lives, in our cities and our countryside. One of the authors has said: "Here's wishing wild words and a wild world to teachers and pupils alike." for which we are very grateful.
